Competitive advantage in SMEs: effect of supply chain management practices, logistics capabilities and logistics integration in a developing country

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore the relationship between supply chain management practices, logistics capabilities, integration and competitive advantage Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in a developing country. Design/methodology/approach Using structured questionnaire survey, cross-sectional data collected from 204 SMEs Kampala – Uganda were analysed using exploratory confirmatory factor analysis, Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) AMOS version 26 validate theorised relationships. Findings study findings revealed that both practices are positively significantly associated with advantage. Also, capabilities integration. Additionally, authors found partially mediates relationships advantage, Conclusively, three independent variables collectively account for 11% variance SMEs. Originality/value Given general observation fundamental socio-economic development, yet resource constrained, uses Resource-based dynamic theoretical perspectives provide an empirical understanding resources necessary building context economy.
